It’s time to unite and take a stand against heart disease
during February’s Heart Health Month. Heart disease, the leading cause of death among American women, kills one in four of us. And, it is more prevalent in African-American women than any other race.
Thankfully, there are leaders in our community who are working to reverse those staggering statistics. For example, I’m proud to share the attached photo featuring members of Fairfield County Chapter of The Links,
Incorporated at a heart health awareness event in Connecticut. Last year a Cheerios Sisters Saving Hearts grant totaling $5,000 was used to help further our chapter’s work to promote
heart-healthy lifestyles for all.
Perhaps you know of someone who is taking a stand to end heart disease. If so, please nominate them this year for a Cheerios Sisters Saving Hearts grant by visiting www.SistersSavingHearts.com.
With heartfelt appreciation —
Deborah Elam
President, Fairfield County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated
