Leading With Her Heart And Her Faith
Friends and neighbors in the Fredericksburg, VA community know Sharyn for her passionate and purposeful work to eliminate heart disease. In 2006, Sharyn founded Perfecting Outreach Missions, a nonprofit organization that serves women of color and single mothers. One of their popular programs called The Women’s Healthy Lifestyles Support Group (WHLS Group) helps women learn to live healthier and be more physically fit. Monthly seminars focus on relevant wellness topics – from heart-healthy food choices to cholesterol checks. The Cheerios® Sisters Saving Hearts grant that Sharyn received was her organization’s first. The funds were used to help with administrative and marketing costs for WHLS Group seminars. She also purchased exercise mats, weights and fitness DVDs for the group members’ use.
